Five spiral notebooks
that's what I found
while searching for one of my favorite books
I found the five spirals
my journal(s)... of sorts... from high school
Between the front cover of the first one
and the back cover of the last one
are pages and pages and years
of emotional trauma
and internal screaming
Each one is one shade of green or another
The cardboard and/or card stock flaps
on the fronts and backs
are covered - absolutely covered
with hate and infatuation
Within is rambling text, run-on sentences,
misspelled and misused words
in various colors of ink and graphite
Written as if spoken aloud by a madman
Each date, day and time noted
On April 2nd, 1996 at 9:48pm I wrote the following:
"At the end of the day
I can't honestly say
that what I have done
even matters"
